Bad News’ dam, Gazette 3*M EX91, was one of our favorites, and it was hard to let her and Good News (now a 4*M VG89 VVEE) leave the herd, but it was necessary to reduce our herd size drastically in those years...the only thing that made it just a bit easier was because she went to the wonderful Ray & Dene Engeman of Shammy’s in Oregon. They took incredible care of those two does.
Bad News is a very balanced doe - angular, open, correct, and has a well attached, strong, productive mammary system. After she freshened as a yearling, we didn’t get her bred as a 2-year-old. Well, that didn’t phase her...she went ahead and milked until about Jan of 2004 anyway...and then freshened that year with a single buck in February of 2004. In 2004, she won locally and easily finished her championship along with a few Best In Show wins as well. She won her class at both the 2004 and 2005 ADGA National Shows as a 3-year-old and then again as a 4-year-old. A productive doe, she travels easily and shows well...a trooper...and beautiful besides. Bad News is a crowd favorite, and one of ours as well – she’s beautiful & productive & correct....and her offspring look just like her! She had a very tough kidding in 2006, we lost both of the kids, and News wasn't able to be shown. Her beautiful daughter Breaking News who appraised VG88 (VVVE) as a yearling milker was one of her few daughters.
This year Bad News was appraised EX92 (EEEE) at 8 & 1/2 years of age showing her strength in type has held up well over the years! We keep her at home now, hoping to produce yet another doe kid for us to keep.
