So
much is said about people breeding the “perfect goat”. Well, here we recognize that there are no perfect goats...and
don’t believe there ever will be. We embrace the concepts of
attempting to improve each successive generation,
but live in a real world. The
breeding of these dairy goats is one of constant motion - of give and
take - of a work in progress. It’s
exciting, it’s challenging, it’s frustrating ... and can be incredibly
sad ... and outrageously fulfilling when it all comes together!
Many
years ago, I was told that “those Nubians just cannot
reproduce” ... "you can’t get a Champion Nubian out of a
Champion Nubian" ...
Well, we believe that we have proven those statements to be incorrect. GCH Kastdemur’s Extasy EX90
- the 1989 Reserve National
Champion produced GCH Kastdemur’s Crown Extatic EX92 - the 1997 ADGA National
Champion/Best Udder. Another success story came from GCH Kastdemur’s Crown Finale EX91, the 1999 ADGA
National Champion/Best Udder who is the dam of GCH Kastdemur’s Aubree EX92
the 2001 ADGA National Champion/Best Udder and 2002 Reserve National
Champion/Best Udder. We've also been able to accomplish that same
consistency with our LaManchas as well, with SGCH Kastdemur's Seven-Up *M
EX91 - the 2001 ADGA Reserve National Champion LaMancha who is the dam
of SGCH Kastdemur's Slice 2*M EX93 - the 2005 ADGA National Champion/Best
Udder.
You
will find relatives of our animals in many herds across the country. We have referred to several of the animals that we have sold
throughout these pages of currently owned animals, and they will also be
included in the
reference section. Bucks we
have sold have gone on to sire National & Reserve National
Champions, National Show Best & Reserve Best Udders, National Show
Jr. Champions & Reserve Junior Champions, National Show class winners, Premier Sire
Award Winners, winners of
production awards, appraisals of VG
or Excellent in many herds, produced numerous GCH’s and
local winners. We couldn’t be prouder of them and thank those individuals
and farms who have trusted in our herd, and have taken animals to a higher level of
success and accomplishment.
In
2004 alone, we exhibited our animals at some of our local shows,
traveled the almost 6,000 mile roundtrip to the ADGA National Show in
Harrisburg, PA, showed at both the Sonoma County Fair in Santa Rosa, and
the California State Fair in Sacramento. Even with all of these miles on the road, they did extremely
well. We finished Championships on seven does, and earned Championship legs on ten other individuals. At the National Show, we were named Runner-Up Premier Breeder of
the Show for the fourth consecutive year, and had many individual &
group placings that you can see detailed throughout the doe/buck pages.
At the Sonoma County Fair we had GCH Nubian with
GCH
Kastdemur’s Finesse 3*M, and GCH LaMancha with GCH Kastdemur’s Bad
News 4*M. Also at Sonoma
(Santa Rosa) our LaMancha Best Three Females entry won the Supreme Best
Three Females Award and our Jr. Champion Kastdemur’s Shasta was Best
Jr. Doe in Show! At the
California State Fair, our Bad News won GCH again and was also Supreme
Best Udder of Show and our 1st pl. LaMancha Best Three
Females entry won the Supreme Best Three Females of Show Award!

so pleased that our GCH Lassenwood Miller Kalila *M EX90 was named

Best Udder with Kiona, and Junior Champion with
Always & Forever,
who went on to win Best Junior Doe in Show!

The beginning of 2007 has been very
successful. We were able to finish GCH's on GCH

wins!!), GCH Kastdemur's Always & Forever 3*M,
SGCH Kastdemur's Temerity 5*M, and SGCH Kastdemur's Twisted Sister 3*M. We were also linear appraised on May 31st and
appraised 29 goats (22 milkers and 7 bucks). We ended up with a whole herd average of
EX90 which includes 6 - EX92's and 6 - EX91's! We
are very proud of the girls and boys and their
individual scores can be seen on each doe's page and the
buck's page. Our 2007 Sonoma County Fair was very
successful! There were many firsts as well as
Reserve Jr. Champion LaMancha with Kastdemur's Survivor
Fiji and Grand Champion/Best Udder with SGCH Kastdemur's
Evian 2*M followed up with Premier Lamancha Breeder and
Exhibitor. In the Nubians, there were also many
firsts with Kastdemur's Mirassou going Jr. Champion and
SGCH Kastdemur's Temerity going Grand Champion. Always

Premier Nubian Breeder and Exhibitor. The CA State
Fair turned out to be another successful show!

her GCH!!! We also won many group classes as well
as individual classes. We were also named Premier

This year we attended one more fair because we were
unable to make it to the National Show. We
traveled to the Mendocino County Fair in September and
did very well. In the Lamanchas GCH Kastdemur's
Make7UpYours won GCH and our Kastdemur's Aquafina was
Jr. Champion and went on to be BJDIS. SGCH
Kastdemur's Temerity was GCH Nubian. It was a

In 2008, we began
the year at our local NVDGA quad show in Red Bluff,
California. SG Kastdemur's Misha 3*M EX90 was GCH
in three rings finishing her championship and earning
SGCH status the first show of the year.
Kastdemur's Survivor Vanuatu 3*M EX93 finished the first
day and earned her GCH! We brought different
Champion Challenge does each day and SGCH Kastdemur's
Temerity 5*M EX93 was BOB in the two rings she was
shown, GCH Kastdemur's Always & Forever 3*M EX92 was
BOB in the two rings she competed, and was Best In Show
in one! GCH Kastdemur's Make7Upyours 3*M
EX92 was BOB in 3 rings, BU in all four rings & BUIS
in 3 rings! We also got several dry legs & BIS
on our Junior does! What an exciting
start.
Appraisal day was
soon to follow in early June. We ended up with 3
does that appraised EX93 (EEEE) - two LaManchas (Evian
& Vanuatu) and one Nubian (Temerity); 5 does
that were EX92 (Always & Forever, Make7UpYours,
Shasta, Zima & Pepsi); 2 does that were EX91 (Mt.
Dew, Twisted Sister), and 7 animals that appraised EX90
(Misha, Ava, Bohemia, Scheherazade, Survivor, Chocolat
& Watcher). The younger animals had strong
appraisal scores as well and those are listed on each of
their individual pages.
At the last minute
(the last day to enter!), we made the decision to enter
& show at the 2008 ADGA National Show and make the
long trip to Louisville, Kentucky. We had a
relatively uneventful trip getting there (just long
& tiring)! Rachel Conway made the trip with us
this year, competed in SR. Showmanship & was 5th
(Congratulations!), and Rachel & Krista clipped
& cleaned, & prepped the does helping to make
them look their best. We had so many friends
helping & supporting at the show - and there aren't
enough thanks in the world that would measure our
appreciation! You are all amazing! We were
named Premier Breeder of the Show this year! The
show itself was almost unbelievable at the time....and,
still is now! Nubians came first, we placed really
well throughout the show and the highlights were
Kastdemur's Tainted Love who was 1st pl. Sr. Yearling
& 2008 ADGA National Junior Champion.....and 1st
place/1st udder two year old with SGCH Kastdemur's Misha......AND.....1st
pl/1st udder four year old SGCH Kastdemur's Temerity who
went on to be named 2008 ADGA National Champion and Best
Udder!!!!! She's the fourth class winner in her
dam line to have won her class at Nationals! We
were excited to also win the Dairy Herd, Best 3 Females,
Dam & Daughter, and Best 3 Junior Doe competitions
as well. When it came to the LaManchas that
followed....things kept happening there too!
Kastdemur's Calistoga was 1st pl. Int. Kid & 2008
ADGA National Junior Champion. SGCH Kastdemur's
Evian was 1st pl/1st udder 4 year old and was named 2008
ADGA National Champion and Reserve Best Udder. Right behind Evian was our
GCH Kastdemur's Make7Upyours who was 2nd pl/2nd udder 4
year old. Our beautiful Aged Doe GCH Kastdemur's
Survivor was 1st place/3rd udder Aged Doe at 7 years of
age. We won the Best 3 Females, Produce of Dam,
Dam & Daughter, Best 3 Jr. Does and Junior Get of
Sire classes as well.
We came home and
went into the Sonoma County Fair in Santa Rosa about 10
days after that. It's a wonderful show, and we
always try to make it there. We won GCH LaMancha
with SGCH Kastdemur's Evian and GCH Nubian with SGCH
Kastdemur's Temerity. Reserve GCH Nubian was SGCH
Kastdemur's Misha. We also had Jr. Champion Nubian
with Kastdemur's Moulin Rouge (Misha's younger sister)
and Reserve Jr. Champion Lamancha with Kastdemur's Bad
Apple.
Our next fair was
the California State Fair. Here we had GCH Nubian
(Temerity), ResGCH Nubian (Misha), Jr. CH Nubian
(Tainted Love) and won
many of the group classes. With the LaManchas GCH
was Evian once again, Reserve GCH was Make7Upyours, Jr.
Champion with Calistoga and Reserve Jr. Champion with
Bad Apple. Again, we won several
group classes! The ultimate though - was our
beautiful Evian was named Best In Show. An amazing
honor for our lovely doe. |

2009 has been
amazing. We

Behave Yourself 4*M, GCH Kastdemur's Aquafina 3*M , GCH
Kastdemur's Bohemia 4*M, and GCH Kastdemur's Laguna
Beach 2*M. GCH Kastdemur's Make7UpYours has earned
another BDIS and BUIS. Additionally, we earned
championship legs on 12 more Jr. & Sr. does in just
limited showing. At the 2009 ADGA National
Show we were honored to win the Premier Breeder of Show
Award. For the 2nd consecutive year our SGCH
Kastdemur's Evian 2*M EX94 (EEEE) was named ADGA
National Champion LaMancha and SGCH Kastdemur's Temerity
5*M EX93 (EEEE) was named ADGA National Champion Nubian.
We had numerous class winners & high placing animals -
information which is included on each of the individual
doe pages.
This year has been
surreal......what makes it even more wonderful is the
love & support of our incredible, amazing,
beautiful friends in this dairy goat world. |
